Haddonfield Football Falls 13-12 to Camden Eastside in the Playoff Semifinal

Haddonfield football's title defense is over. On Friday, Nov. 6, No. 3 seed Camden Eastside beat No. 2 seed Haddonfield 13-12 in the NJSIAA South Jersey Group 2 semifinal at Haddonfield. One point. That's the whole story, and it stings.

How the game played out

Dan Keenan did everything he could. He scored both Haddonfield touchdowns: a 7-yard run in the second quarter and a 1-yard run in the fourth.

The problem was the extra points. Both kicks failed. In a one-point game, that is the difference.

Eastside got its scores two ways. Raheem Blackwell Jr. returned an interception for a touchdown. Iziah Guzman added a 3-yard run and finished with 114 rushing yards.

Eastside moves to 9-1. Haddonfield, the defending sectional champion, ends its playoff run at 7-3.

What's next

Eastside plays top seed West Deptford in the sectional final next weekend.

Haddonfield still has one more game, and it's the one a lot of this town circles every year. The Bulldawgs close the season on Thanksgiving against rival Haddon Heights. Seniors get one more game in the uniform.

  • Boys soccer 6, Lindenwold 0 (Wed., Nov. 4, at Haddonfield). No. 3 seed Haddonfield led 4-0 at the half. Jackson Watson had a hat trick. JP Crawford, Lucas Codorniu and Henry Hall each scored once, and six players had assists. Haddonfield outshot Lindenwold 16-3, and goalie Adam Brand made three saves.
  • Girls soccer 5, Sterling 0 (Fri., Nov. 6, at Haddonfield). We covered this one in our Sunday guide. The girls host a semifinal on Tuesday, Nov. 10.
